Kerosene is slow-burning. Gasoline is fast-burning; bordering explosive.
If you pour gasoline on a fire, the flames will climb up the stream of gasoline faster than gravity is pulling it down, thus in mere seconds your entire container and hand will be on fire.
You can pour kerosene on a fire all day long and this will not happen because kerosene flames propagate more slowly than gravity.
