Libéré le 31 mars 1941, il reprend son manuscrit durant l’été de cette même année, mais l’abandonne définitivement.
After the June 1940 defeat, Robert Brasillach was captured during the encirclement of the Third Army. First in Neuf-Brisach, then in the German camps of Warburg and Soest, he began writing a novel, which he entitled The Captives. Released on March 31, 1941, he resumed his manuscript during the summer of that year, but abandoned it definitively.
