I wonder what is the stance of French (and I mean actual French) people towards the leaders of the past who brought this situation through their mindless policies. Is Camp of Saints available at the bookshops or is it banned?
Camp of saints is available but what's a book against tv, and all the people inside who obviously did better in life than those outside watching them? Those people inside the tv, inviting themselves for diner every day, and telling the watchers what's good and what's bad... Don't be racist, you bigots... Besides, the immigration package was included in every political offer except lepen... But lepen killed people, bad lepen baaaaad... And he's a racist... And of course, people watching the tv didn't realize the people inside were (((people))) for the most part...
Sounds familiar?
Same shit different place...
...
Now technically, the right introduced the so called "regroupement familial", an immigration policy designed to allow foreign workers to import their families so they didn't have to go back to north africa... A policy designed to accomodate employers, big construction companies... Low wage workers... And it was supposed to be temporary... But then the left and the senate prevented any reform to it... So it remained as is far too long, and the left even extended it, to extended family members, so it's not just wife and kids, it's cousins and brothers... And here we are...
It's not surprising that left and right work towards the same goal, with the exception of (father) Lepen, but I was more curious about the way leadership of 50, 100, 150 years ago is seen today, because France was possibly the European country that pioneered this phenomenon of bringing foreign populations on European soil, perhaps as troops or workers or even citizens, especially with the Algerian experiment.
Camp of Saints doesn't appear to be available in an English edition anymore, but I know there is some strong interest outside of France in Robert Brasillach and the events of 1934.
Well, zemmour and lepen voters aside, all the rest consider phillipe pétain as a traitor pretty much, nazi collaborator etc, while in reality he prevented the population from being bombed to shit and made a deal with hitler which saved french jews; you can grab all the foreign jews you want, but you leave the french jews alone. Of course when allies started to invade the southern part of france the deal went sideways, but that's another story
Also, anything left of the center thinks socialists are little humanitarian angels who created most social programs and the leading resistance during wwII, which historically, is completely false
Those are tv induced falsehoods
While today france is objectively right wing, the average french is under influence, he doesnt' think straight, his train of thoughts still runs on a lot of falsehoods, to the point that I'm "barely compatible" with anyone over there I engage in historical and political discussions...
"Oh the usa they have a gun problem!"... Yeah... Alright... I guess one day they'll figure out what's the real problem when it'll start shooting at them...
