[Book] So was Saint Louis. How did Saint Louis become the most admired figure in the history of France? He was, in the 13th century, the undisputed master of all Christianity. His love for peace and justice will make him a sovereign, already in his lifetime, with undisputed moral prestige. The one who received such a demanding education from his mother Blanche de Castille spent her life guided by two books: the Gospels and the Psalms. Saint Louis also defended a cause which was that of all of Christian Europe: the crusade. Through his overseas journeys, he wanted to reconquer Jerusalem, defend the Christians present in the Holy Land against Muslim attacks and convert the infidels to the Catholic faith. All of his choices, private and public, had only God as their purpose. Saint Louis would have given his life for the conversion of one man to the faith of Christ. His daily life was animated by the desire to make the good triumph whatever it cost him: « Advance the good by all your power, » he urged his son. Through the pages, you will enter the life of the very Christian king and you will better understand the reasons which led his contemporaries to raise him to the rank of the great Catholic saints What did he say? What has he achieved so remarkable that, more than seven hundred years after his death, his reign continues to amaze us? This book aims to answer these questions. Such a government, which could only be inspired by the Gospels, was a model of French royalty.
