I've been working on these for a few days now. Takes about 30 minutes to fully calculate/render the fractals and shadows (on my PC). After that I can change the color palette and lighting effects instantly. I took a few images at each zoom level to show the effect different lighting, colors, and fog can have on the generated fractal.

Formulas/Parameters used (pic8.co)

0x (pic8.co)

507x (pic8.co)

20,003x (pic8.co)

  • Only did one image for this zoom level

55,090x (pic8.co)

704,800x (pic8.co)

98,970,000x (pic8.co)

377,700,000x (pic8.co)

24,900,000,000x (pic8.co)

2,970,000,000,000x (pic8.co)

  • Album (pic8.co)

  • The fractal starts to lose detail here. I could crank the settings even higher and wait 1-2+ hours to render, but none of these images are really worth the trouble. They are cool, but not max out my CPU for over an hour cool.

Man, I member, back in the mid-80s>90s, rendering fractals on Amiga used to take forever.

I've never had the privilege of using an Amiga. I have it emulated in one of my retro setups, but that's not the same. Give me a Commodore 64 or an old DOS machine and I can fuck some shit up though.

EGA/CGA sucked ass for rendering fractals.

The Amiga video modes stunned so many people, back in the days.

Arcade quality graphics at home, at that time in history... Huge!

I could not stand the CGA palette. Light Magenta is one of the gayest colors ever. And the colors were even worse if you were using composite output instead of a RGBI monitor it made the palette even more pastel looking.

dude thats really cool.

it reminds me of the visual feedback id get as a kid pointing the video camera at the TV.

Been there done that and it is very cool. You can still do it by mirroring your phone to your TV and turning on the camera. It's like you get a glimpse into infinity.

That was cool! I had to try it.

I remember doing the low-tech version with mirrors. It kinda fades after 10 or so cycles since the reflection isn't perfect, and you're always holding it at an angle if you want to see what's going on...

yup.... i still do it occasionally the 3 way bathroom mirrors.

wish i would have recorded it on a vhs tape. this wasnt like that... it was like a 3d green road with ridges and grooves flying into itself. very fractal-like. kinda reminded me of the original xbox startup sequence. the color anyway.

Pretty sure I've been someplace pretty similar to that

DMT trip?

Hoh yeah. Went thru this shit, wound up at the chrysanthemum, went through that and it was me alone with one other ("entity")? Everything was red and warm and cozy and there was a little tiny white dot super far away with red orange an yellow days being emitted from it. Felt like I was home, then everything went black and I was reduced down to nothing but breathing. And that was the longest part. I was in the black for an eternity. Just breathing calmly. For a while after I felt like I was literally no more important than the air I breathe, then I realized how important the air we breathe is, and started working on reading a bunch of shit to holistically help heal and teach others. Soon it's all we will have

Thank you for the story. Sounds like it was a great trip. I have a couple questions about your trip if you don't mind. For comparative reasons.

it was me alone with one other ("entity")?

Do you know or suspect that it might have been female in origin? Did it communicate verbally or otherwise?

Felt like I was home

Did it feel like you had been there a million times before, but somehow you forget about it? Almost like it's where you are really from or belong?

I was reduced down to nothing but breathing

Were you aware of your actual body taking breaths? If so, did it feel like your body was/is foreign to you as a being/soul?

No pressure to answer just curious. I've done many DMT trips and have also watched a lot as well and there seems to be an awful lot of similarities between different peoples trips. I'm under the impression that this can't be coincidence.
