Those are actual nuts?
They look like petrified demon skulls. Or something coming from the cover of the Necronomicon.
I think it’s the other way around
These are food? How do you eat them/prepare them?
Raw or boiled (the shell peels off easily that way)
They are hell to eat raw. No wonder why they aren’t so popular outside Asia. haha
Wait, wut. You roasted my nuts? Husband's not gonna be happy about this xD
They are as delicious as they are hard to eat.
Are they akin to anything, tastewise? I don't even know what I was reading about a week ago and learned about the actual Caltrop. I'm quite enchanted by the beautiful simplicity of it in perimeter defense as well as active offense. While looking at various ways to make them I saw that there were caltrop nuts, but figured they weren't edible and that they were only mentioned because they looked like they were very unpleasant to step upon lol.
Nowadays you just use Legos
They are used in Asian (mostly chinese) cuisine.
Sautéed in peanut or sesame oil, yummy!
