If you can, only buy local and from places you know actually have their own hives. A HUGE amount of "honey" you find in stores is either faked or from China or other banned countries. If they filter it and remove the pollen you can't actually verify the region and if it is considered safe.

Oh, and a lot of that stuff in the store is actually just syrup with a bunch of other garbage in it, not real honey/pure.

From the post:

>The World Beekeeping Awards will not award a prize for honey next year after warnings of widespread fraud in the global supply chain. Apimondia, the International Federation of Beekeepers’ Associations, says it will showcase honey from around the world at its congress in Denmark, but for the first time make no awards for the product.

Another aspect of the war on food.

I only use honey from my own bees. If you have any kind of back yard at all you should try bee keeping. It's not all that difficult and it's very rewarding.

I intend to start next year after I move out of this hell hole. Also hoping to get a decent amount of land, small tractor, etc.. Going to be a lot of posts from me on the gardening sub if it works out.

Maybe there should be a beekeeping sub too if there is not one to share knowledge. I have read plenty and knew some people that did but I have no idea where to start.

I would save up my pennies and start with a Flow Hive. There is a farming sub that might catch the occasional Bee post. But looking back at prior posts I don't think there is a lot of interest for it on Poal.
