This might really help governments across the world to tackle rising food insecurity.

Think hard, when is the last time your government did anything to help its denizens?

A lab or factory takes a lot of energy to build and run. A lot of C emitting there. Where planting a seed requires absolutely no energy other than the sun.

it will also need to pass regulatory hurdles and long clinical trials.

Safe and effective.

Lab grown fruit when year round greenhouses exist. This is like making a vaccine for the common cold branded COVID when Ivermectin exists.

There are so many existing solutions to this that are extremely efficient or could be made more efficient with more data collection and yet.. "Lets make it in a test tube". Right.. This makes so much sense.

Now. If they said this is for deep space travel then maybe it would make sense. Otherwise.. Uhh.. Plant food and spend time to grow it? Live in a place that its hard.. Make greenhouses, cold frames etc..
