You can put other things in the rice. Get a pack of cubed ham and toss some in, or some mushrooms, or something.

At least mix some beans in it like the beaners do!

The good lord has not provided me with ham, but he has provided me with strange, dried, and potentially mislabeled Chinese mushrooms.
