Did you know all European countries have stew? Different countries have different names, but it's the same dish. It's about meat, potatoes and veggies. If you have to survive winter, this is the dish you need. I'm amazed by the simplicity of this dish and in the same time the succulent taste. Personally I enjoy stew more with sweet pickles as garnish. What about you? Do you consider stew as European main dish?

What is Stewing?

Stewing is a combination cooking method that uses small, uniform pieces of meat that are totally immersed in liquid and slowly simmered. In this case, the food and the liquid are served together as one dish.

Stewing is a cooking method not a dish. While we call dishes prepared using the stewing cooking method 'stew', the more correct name would be something like 'beef and vegetable stew' or 'seafood stew'. The real key hear is the smaller, uniform chunks of ingredients and the totally immersed in liquid slow simmering. Braising is a similar cooking method which usually involves whole cuts of meat with as little liquid as required (not fully submersed) where stewing goes for full liquid immersion. So when you say stew, you could also be referring to chicken noodle soup, chili or even clam chowder as they all involve the stewing cooking method.

Good luck convincing that blowhard of anything. Dude's got his cock so far down his own throat I'm surprised there's room for air.

Sorry, bro, but stew is not soup. Change your dictionary.

Lol. By that logic, a bottle of water is a bottle of stew? Going for total liquid here.

Bottled stew sounds good

If there's more liquid than solids, I call it soup. If there's more solids than liquid, then it's stew imho. Homemade is always the best, but I'll chow down on Dinty Moore beef stew with some saltines any day.

Learn to use a dictionary. I didn't make this definition. You could spend 30 seconds to search for "stewing cooking method" and educate yourself since you don't seem to understand.

I don't need a fucking dictionary. I had my grandma and my mom cooking it.

Are you sure you are white and not an orphan?

Wrong. Im here as an informed man should you desire to become like me

Both myself and my ancestors eat perpetual stew.

Which is slow cooking meat and vege in a tall pot permanently.

You eat from the pot, you add more ingredients and leave it stewing. Rinse and repeat.

Perpetual stew.

That would be a awesome band name

Stew is the ultimate comfort food. I make sure that I toss a nice bone with marrow with the pieces of meat. SpouseAnon likes a traditional meat, potatoes, carrots and onion stew. Occasionally I add cabbage as my Mother did. Later the aroma and methane content of the air would send us running to open windows. Luckily the EPA wasn't around then.

Yep, you can even use fish in the stew such as a bouillabaisse.

Yeah, fish & chips is good, but I'm crazy about meat & potato taste.

I will assume that you mean beef.

tbh, I only consider a thick broth gravy with seared beef cubes as stew. (I don't care what veggies are added) I don't care much for stews with other meats (although there are some good soups that use meats like pork, chicken, shrimp, hamburger, bison, elk, moose, venison, etc.

Moose stew is delicious work a chunk of home made bread! I've always thought of it as European for sure.

I use my crock pot all the time. Basically, I guy what’s on sale and throw it all in the pot. Lots of it was on sale or clearance and in my chest freezer waiting to hit the crock pot.

Cuts of meat on quick sale and a ton of vegetables. Set and forget. I usually fully cook my beef/chicken on the stove first before tossing it in. Some people go in seared or raw but I go for safety and cook thoroughly.

Does it feel especially White? I think so because all I see niggers eat are candy, snack cakes and fried chicken.

I think some christian blacks can make stew.

Made Hungarian goulash for some kind of heritage day in elementary school... I'm all kinds of European shit though... Maybe not quite a stew

[–] 0 pt

I've never thought about goulash being a stew...more of 'casserole" . But when made right it can be a good winter comfort food.

I'm pretty sure all European countries have their own version of 'shepherds pie' as well.

Not sure but in anime shows you occasionally hear the mention of hotpot which I believe is stew in Japan.

As for the stew, in a cold climate before electricity they had root cellars aka for potato's, carrots, onions, etc and those are good at lasting at low temps and have plenty of starch for a good stew so naturally in the winter centuries ago they would use what they had during the winter that had to last for months so they wouldn't starve and stew is a good food for energy as in hunting and even fishing when it's winter and the men need to warm up fast inside and outside a stew would be on that list or a chowder.

Nope. Hotpot is Asian soup. Has nothing to do with stew.

Thanks for educating me, that fact is good to know. :)
