What, are you ever going to run out of grass?

Assuming I am reading this right...

Grasshoppers and crickets will still need protein. Just grass is not a viable food source.

If you were to do this I suggest stocking up on fish flake and growing a lot of carrots.

They love carrots. I keep them as feeders for my animals.

Ohhhh that's a great tip. Good looking out. I didn't look into it that much, I was just brainstorming. So you don't think there would be a way to just set it and forget it, basically? I was thinking of things that could be done with pretty much no resource drain. Why can rabbits do it but insects can't?

you might be able to sort something out, I would imagine you would lose a lot though and make it not really worth it. It would need to be indoors 100% to prevent escapees, otherwise you might be able to setup some sort of biosphere for them and set and forget. Not 100% though
