Try blending some sour cream with your braunschweiger. Garlic powder, etc. to taste.

It is a guilty pleasure of mine. Not a single person I know aside from my father...and now you...does not wretch audibly upon the mention of liverwurst.

I guess it must be an acquired taste. I learned to like it as a kid.
