I quit any food containing sugar for years. Today I got some pancakes in a fast food that were loaded with sugar. After the first one I had a gag reflex, so I had to spit the pancake. The taste was horrible. The taste of saccharinity has become unbearable for me. I was feeling like there was poison in my mouth, and my organism rejected it straight away.

Funniest part about sugar is the cocaine like high, yet everyones tolerance is so ruined that they don't even feel it anymore

Are you sure you have done cocaine?

It was probably just sugar....

you probably just never stopped consuming refined sugar, goy

I'm the same way. I can enjoy my coffee black and some nice very dark chocolate. Even carrots taste very sweet.

Processed food is disgusting.

I would love to get to that place, I'm basically a candida farm at this point.

I have not had sugar for 20 years. Cannot abide anything that is sickly sweet. Took a couple years for my palette to change. Now I love all the complex spicy, sour, and bitter flavours that foods offer.

Sugar is poison. A worse poison though is high fructose corn syrup.

You can't really avoid sugar as it is naturally occurring in nearly all foods. Processed sugars, yes.

I only buy jam with natural fructose, no sugar added.

It tastes way better.

Sorry to pop your bubble but fructose in any form other than the unprocessed fruit is bad for you. It is not the same metabolically as glucose and should be avoided for several reasons. If you are curious about the science behind this claim check out The Bitter Truth by Dr. Robert Lustig on youtube.

I mean natural fructose from fruits. Not fructose from processed corn.

I've been low carb for years and go out of my way to avoid sugar... except for pancakes. Every week or two I get a container of whipping cream and then sit down to a stack of home made pancakes with maple syrup, whipped cream, unsweetened blueberries, and breakfast sausages or bacon. It's like a religious rite at our house.

But I feel like crap for the rest of the day. Bloated from the carbs and my blood sugar is all out of whack from the glucose in the maple syrup so I feel listless and achy. But I love the meal so much I didn't want to give it up.

Then I had a revelation: Don't have any maple syrup.

I never expected I'd like pancakes without MS but they are just as good, praise jebus. And after a couple times I tried some maple syrup again just to see what I was missing. Nope, did not like it one bit. I mean the taste was familiar and ticked all the right emotional boxes but the experience itself was not enjoyable.

Now if I could only pull off the same trick for beer.

Try pancakes with sugar free jam or sour cream. They taste great.

The jam contains fructose which, unless it's the unprocessed fruit, is a no no.

Aren't blintzes traditionally served with sour cream?

I have no idea. Sour cream is good with any kind of fried dough.

Dayum, I wish I had that reaction, I'm near addicted to the shit. Hostess cupcakes or Ice Cream daily. Been having a problem losing weight though....

You should try a cinnamon bear, because they’re awesome.

Good for you!

Whyd you order the pancakes though?

I didn't remember how much sugar they have.

[–] 0 pt

Yeah, once you lose the taste for it, you forget how sweet things are.
