Yup. I'm pretty familiar with the mythology. I've had dual citizenship for some years now and spend some time up in NS with my extended family and tribe. I learned a lot about my heritage and cultural history. I have some "improved" property in NS, as I needed additional points (and still had to take the naturalization test), but by "improved" it's just got septic, electricity to a pole, and a shed. Oh, and a gravel driveway. There's nothing actually on it - but that was what was needed to get the points. Being Micmac wasn't enough, that just got me to the front of the line for testing.
My side of the family moved to the US two generations ago. So, I was born here. I didn't actually start getting into learning about my heritage until after I retired.
By the way, your link is a little misleading. Most of us don't actually believe the myths anymore (for better or worse). We still tell them and know them, but I'm pretty sure most of us (that I know of) believe the current scientific understanding is the most probable, though there's a few of other faiths. Your link says, "The Mik'Maq people believe ..."
It's like saying, "White people believe Joe Smith" 'cause some white people are Mormons.
For better or worse, I don't think I know any of us that actually believe that. We do observe many of the old customs, 'cause a sweat lodge is awesome and smudging smells pretty good, plus the ritual has some value for giving us pause in our lives. I don't normally smudge except to cleanse before going into sweat or to enjoy the activity with other people. I do have a smudge pot, but I just kinda like the smell of burning sage.
Sweat lodges are awesome. I tripped balls inside one when i was younger. I understand how the creation myths came about at least an understanding that makes sense to me
I like the philosophical implications and I sometimes will wonder why they reached the conclusions they reached. I sometimes try to step back and wonder, "What were they thinking when they decided that this was the truth? How did they come up with this?"
