I've read it was "carved" into the animal's flesh, "scratched" into it's skin, and now "we're not sure how it was etched" onto the animal. Ever seen one of these things in real life? You could wipe the slime and algae off with a finger like a dusty window on a car. I know it's a crime and don't hurt animals for no reason, but if someone basically just fingered "wash me" on it, calm the fuck down.

It was just wiped off algae you can tell by the photo they show. The mottled grey underneath is its clean and healthy skin.

It wasn't harmed. Doesn't negate the fact someone decided to wipe its algae off for a laugh, but worst case scenario that skin gets more sun for a week and then the algae grows back

Humanely destroy the manatee so vacationers are not triggered. More importantly this may validate a Trump supporter. Its death is a greater good than allowing it to be seen further.

From the photo that isn't "carved" or "etched" into its back. Its wiped away with a hand. Manatees are covered in algae all over their backs. That person basically gave them a partial cleaning. There was no harm done to that animal.
That being said, dont fuck with our manatees. They are amazing creatures and don't need you messing with them.
