What will happen is restaurants will require someone to leave a credit card with a $500 deposit taken when there are 4 or more people sitting at a table.
Frankly, I'd be totally fine with this approach. I sympathize with restaurants. How is this any different than renting a car and leaving a credit card on file?
I can totally hear the conversation at home.
Hey honey, what do you say we take the family out for a dine and dash? Let's go to that expensive seafood place La Camaronera.
Oh yes, I love that place in Miami. I'm just wondering if I can push the baby carriage fast enough to get away.
Don't worry, La Camaronera is always very busy, they won't notice we're gone.
So, do we leave before or after our dessert?
You know, there was a news story a couple of years ago about a Asian/Chinese place that required black people to pay before the food was delivered. They were on national news and were completely unapologetic and said "its because they steal, no one else steal from us, just them".
I think I am mostly remembering that right but I could be off by a little bit. It disappeared because they said the quiet part out loud and could prove that only the black's dine and dash at their place.
