More than 547,000 people exchanged out-of-state driver’s licenses last year for ones with Sunshine State addresses. That’s a 40% increase from 2020 and nearly 20% greater than the five-year average between 2017 and 2021.

The license swaps — largely from New York (11%), New Jersey (6%) and foreign countries (14%) — are acutely felt in Florida real estate markets where inventory is anemic and prices aggressive.

Yeah, I mean, if you like Florida then great. It’s not for me. The humidity in NYC can be insufferable at times and it has to be 3x worse down there. I can’t picture myself there dealing with reptiles and flying roaches and shit. Same shit with Texas. Too fucking hot. If I’m going to do heat, it has to be dry heat like Phoenix or ABQ. If I had the money, I could see myself being happy in Scottsdale, but I don’t, so I’ll probably end up moving to the Midwest or the Mid-South.

Scottsdale and the surrounding area is so densely packed now it's a shame. I used to travel there for work and it's unrecognizable now.
