Any workout gurus want to help a relative newb?

What is the consensus on various supplements and pre/post workout shit?

Occasionally I'll have a Gatorade or protein shake after a workout but that's about it. I'm honestly clueless about pre workout stuff. I've always avoided it because I workout in the evening and my food cutoff is 5 pm so I don't want any calories after that. Do they work? WTF are they? Should I start using them?

Supplements are something else I'm wondering about. I take zinc and magnesium nightly to help with sleep and hopefully increase testosterone. Does it work? I have no idea. Somedays maybe, most of the time - I'm not so sure. Does anyone recommend anything that would enhance testosterone or have any other benefits? I've even seen estrogen blockers. Would that be a good idea?

EDIT: I also take vitamin C, D, K, beet root daily.

Or am I over thinking this and just need to work out harder/longer?

Protein shakes are liquid goyslop. Read the ingredients. Fuck that. Tried to find some for father who is diabetic, so he could have something later in the evening.

Zero options are worth it.

As for vitamins I thought you just pee our what you can’t use…outside of doing like 50,000ui Jen the liver can’t keep up. But I don’t take any as my blood is good outside of muh cholesterol. Which I told the doctor, no not taking any statins. Fuck off with that. I’ll just die when the Lord decides. Then never went back to that doc. Wearing a mask to this day I’d guess. Stupid fuck.

There exist some protein shakes that are fine. You just have to really look for them. Naked Nutrition's unflavored is literally just whey powder. Daily harvest organic pea protein is literally just dried pea protein. Most brands load themselves with sugar and artificial crap to sweeten and flavor them up but still sell themselves as healthy, but clean ones exist.

But again the only point is if you're not able to eat enough protein normally, or you want something that is easy to eat on the go... they hold no magic power.
