I am not sure about this "short" myself. The only time that you make a profit is the day you sell it. The day Trump won the election silver was at $30. an ounce and fell hard. not a problem since I voted for Trump. It did show me that the "price" was controlled. Contact local pawn shops about junk silver like "sterling or old coins" buy the weight not by face value since they will have "wear and tear"

Also worth noting that sterling silver doesn't have much actual silver in it, don't pay high prices for it.
