I mean there's clear situations where it's only a negative thing. I just see the world as more nuanced. People do the right things for the wrong reasons and the wrong things for the right ones. I don't see it as we'll be judged in the end for what we've done but the reasons why we did the things we did. All I meant is every situation is different and there's a lot of room for a gray area. That doesn't sound like the case w/ the situation you described.
