It's also a problem because the only people who know what the average income is are people who work at only fans. They have no motivation to undersell their service.
Plus averages are very manipulative. It's like how the automotive dealers association likes to say the average new car price is $40k+. Well if you sell 1 $240k Porsche and 20 $20k corollas then the average price is going to be $40k, but most people are buying a $20k car.
