You're a virtual cornucopia of information about sending booze to people!
That's pretty awesome, actually. I take it that you're a home brewer?
I'm going to wait until I'm not drinking tomorrow and then I'll send an email to the people who make the wine. I might be able to figure something out on that end, as I'm guessing they can lawfully distribute wine. However, this is only their second full year of making blueberry wine and they're a small vintner.
If you're a brewer, then I have this to share.
"In Vino Veritas, In Cervesio Felicitas."
"In wine is truth, in beer is happiness."
I brew on occasion!
I really keep meaning to get into it.
I bought a middle-of-the-road (expense-wise) beer brewing kit. It's got the giant glass carboy and all that jazz - including a bunch of stuff to get started with it.
It's in the basement and it collects dust. It was a number of boxes of stuff and I bought it from a fairly local place that sells brewing supplies.
It has brewed exactly zero beers. I put it in the basement, and it has not yet produced beer!
Got any motivation for me to actually (finally) dig it out and start trying to learn to brew beer? I keep telling myself that I'll get to it next winter, and that winter passes without me doing anything about it.
Winter is coming and I have lots of projects that I take up in the winter. I haven't lied to myself - yet. I haven't told myself that I'll get to it this winter.
I think I've had the kit since 2012 - and it's mostly still in unopened boxes.
So... Got any motivational speeches or can you think of any way to make it seem like something other than work for less than spectacular results - and at additional expense compared to what I can get from a major brewery or a local microbrewery?
My current thinking is that I'll probably be given free beer if I just give the kit away to a buddy! At the same time, beer making seems like it'd be an interesting project. I just can't seem to talk myself into actually doing the work and learning about it.
I'm a damned mess and you seem to know what you're talking about! Help me! LOL
DO YOU LIKE WASHING DISHES? THEN YOURE GONNA LOOOOOOOVE BREWING BEER!!!
seriously, I fucking HATE how much cleaning is involved. The brewing process is very fun, and even for an all-grain brew day, with me brewing alone, it takes me about 4 hours.
Ppl are gonna say start with extract, not all-grain. I disagree. Look up "biab" which is brew-in-a-bag.
Its the method I use, and you don't need like 3 coolers , mash tun, etc etc. a MUCH easier method than traditional all-grain brewing.
You know that pride you get when eating an animal you've killed and processed yourself? Yeah its like that when you brew your own shit :)
Dooooooooo it.
just buy a kit from Northern Brewer, a simple one like a wheat or a red or pale ale, and brew a batch
then if it sucks all the equipment is still in the same condition, and give it away
