I feel like I'm not understanding the hate for ranked choice. It seems on the surface that it would allow people to vote for say a Libertarian candidate as a first choice and GOP as second. Where usually people would be hesitant to vote for a "spoiler".

Imo ranked choice favors extremist views of candidates. Anyone who is moderate and dislikes a politicians position but gives them a mediocre view would be droned out by the "I hate them and everything they stand for regardless of policy crowd" of the brainwashed.
Basically ranked choice is too civilized for a citizenry of emotional retards.
It isn't so much that I hate it. It is one of those things that requires trust. There isn't a whole lot of that going around at the moment.
Election results already take months to come out sometimes. Imagine the fucking shit show of ranked choice. And then 3rd parties trying to verify the legitimacy. It's a cheaters wet dream.
