On April 26, 2021, Ryan Prendergast was killed by a friend's ex-boyfriend. Ryan was sleeping in a homeless encampment in the early morning when William Clark drove up. According to a police statement, while William was speaking with Ryan's friend, he pulled out a gun and "placed the barrel of the firearm directly on the cheek of the woman. Will demanded that she get into the vehicle with him in an attempt to kidnap her." When Ryan came out of his tent to investigate, William shot the 21-year-old in the chest.
