On April 8, 2016, Michael Joseph Beson was killed during a robbery. Xavier Smith and Al'Kwaun Dixon approached Mike and his wife at a gas station. They demanded her purse, and when Mike moved toward her protectively, one of the young men shot the 67-year-old grandfather in the face.
