On April 2, 2016, Hagan Christopher Newland was shot in the head. According to a witness, Hagan was with some friends outside a restaurant, where they were about to celebrate his graduation from high school and first paycheck, when Laron Lumpkin, Lorenzo Montelier-Avila, and Jimaz Bledsoe-Conley approached with guns. They demanded Hagan's wallet and phone, and when he resisted, one of the teenage robbers fatally wounded him.
