On March 31, 2020, Robin Carre and his wife Beth were found in a ditch. Teenagers Khari Sanford and Ali'jah Larrue had robbed and kidnapped the couple, then drove them to an arboretum in the middle of the night and shot each of them in the back of the head. Khari was the boyfriend of Robin's adopted daughter; before the killings, a witness had overheard her and Khari discussing their need for money, and the fact that her parents had thousands of dollars in cash.
