On March 28, 2021, Chad Michael Walker was declared dead. Working as a highway patrolman, Chad had spotted a car on the side of the road and pulled up behind it, thinking it had broken down. But before Chad could exit his own vehicle, DeArthur Pinson shot through its windshield, striking the 38-year-old officer in the head and abdomen. Chad was taken to the hospital where he was later found to have no viable brain activity.

On Saturday night, Pinson was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in a house in Mexia, where he had barricaded himself during a standoff with authorities, according to a statement from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
