On February 29, 2000, Kayla Renee Rolland was at school with her first-grade classmates when one of them pulled out a small handgun. Dedrick Owens announced "I don't like you" and shot Kayla. The bullet entered the 6-year-old's arm and passed all the way through her tiny abdomen. After briefly grabbing her stomach in agony and struggling to breathe, Kayla died.

of course this case was made into a gun violence issue. because the gun decided to kill someone and transported, aimed, and pulled it's own trigger. and the shooter and his siblings were all put in the child welfare system because mama is a ratchet. https://www.mlive.com/news/flint/2020/02/first-grader-kayla-rolland-was-fatally-shot-at-school-20-years-ago-heres-how-it-happened.html the article is dated year 2020 so the shooter is roughly 28 now but still does not name him.
