On February 26, 2020, Dana Walk, Dale Hudson, and Trevor Wetselaar were killed by a coworker. Anthony Ferrill — who had been in frequent arguments with other employees about various issues, such as Anthony's watching movies on company time, and other workers' alleged racial discrimination against him — brought a gun to work and killed Dana, Dale, Trevor, and a few others.
One local politician cited the city's "racial climate" and mistreatment of Anthony as a possible "motive in the shooting." A spokesman for Anthony's employer said "There's no two ways about it. We have more work to do. Fostering an inclusive and welcoming workplace is something every organization has to work towards each day, and we aren't going to shy away from our responsibility to take a deep look at our own culture following this event."
