On February 25, 2020, Andrew John Gillette was killed. He and other deputies had been serving an eviction notice to Terry Hasty when Terry pulled out a gun. Andrew, who was holding a taser in one hand and the court order in the other, was shot in the chest. Before he succumbed to his injury, the 36-year-old father drew his gun and returned fire. According to an official, Andrew "was ambushed, and yet he fought to cover for his colleagues and protect them from serious harm."
