On February 13, 2020, Kane Joseph Wiesensee was with some friends when one of them shot him in the chest. Kane's girlfriend told police that Emmanuel Boyd was playing with a handgun when it accidentally discharged, striking and killing 18-year-old Kane. But Emmanuel, who was not allowed to possess a firearm because of a previous juvenile felony conviction, claimed that Kane was shot by someone in a passing car. In the end, with overwhelming evidence against him, the teenager confessed to the shooting, and also to stealing the gun during a recent burglary.
