On January 16, 2017, Arthur William Bloxham was sleeping under a bridge when a group of youths began to beat him. Tremayne Butler, Treshawn Plater, Decorus Roundtree, and two others had been headed home after stealing some snacks from a convenience store when they noticed Bill and attacked. They took off his shoes and pants and stole Bill's money, then one of the younger unnamed teens went back and kicked the 59-year-old in the head. Decorus later claimed that their victim had used a racial slur against them. The boys came away from the attack with about $40 to split among themselves. Bill suffered a serious brain injury, loss of vision in one eye, and a collapsed lung; his medical bills totaled about half a million dollars, and he died a few months later.
