On January 15, 2015, Patricia Moran and Deborah Royal were killed in their home. Michael Gordon, Terrell Williams, Jovan Lamb, and Devonere McCune had robbed a pawn shop at gunpoint, then led police on a high-speed chase. After crashing their car, some of the men forced their way into a nearby house, where they found Patricia and her daughter Deborah. Michael stabbed each of the women over 50 times and also severed their throats. According to a prosecuting attorney, when police entered the house, "the two women were lying on the living room floor, next to each other. Deborah Royal is nude and Patricia Moran had some underwear on." Patricia left behind two other children and seven grandchildren.
