On January 5, 2016, Jonathan Michael Gilotti stepped out the front door and saw a group of teens breaking into his car. Before they ran away, they fatally shot the 33-year-old. According to Jonathan's wife, after hearing two gunshots, "I opened the door and he fell into my arms, and I tried to do CPR. Nothing prepared me to hold my husband bleeding at my front doorstep, with my son yelling 'Daddy' and my baby crying in the other room."
Ahmad Johnson, Charleston Wells, Darrian Bryant, and De'Ron Lucas were identified from surveillance cameras and arrested for the killing. Charleston confessed to his participation in the series of thefts that led to the murder, testifying that two of the other youths fired at Jonathan. However, none of the four were ever directly found responsible for Jonathan's death.
