On January 5, 2013, Sandra Lee Price passed away. A few days earlier, Sandra's home had been invaded by Walter Neely, Khawana Lamar, and three teenage accomplices. Sandra's niece was visiting her that day, along with a daughter and son. The boy heard a knock at the back door, and when he looked out the window, Walter forced his way in, attacked him with a kitchen knife, and threw the 13-year-old down the basement stairs. According to Sandra's niece, Walter then entered the 67-year-old's bedroom, swinging the knife and saying "Bitch, I'm going to kill you and I'm going to get away with it." As his accomplices looted the house, Walter cut the throats of Sandra and her husband. Sandra was the only fatality, but her niece reported that the children suffered long-lasting psychological and physical damage. "My son now has scarred hands and no fingertips from defending himself against this monster."
