On January 4, 2019, Michael Lee Swearingin and Jenna Kay Scott were reported missing. Cedric Marks had been Jenna's boyfriend, but they broke up over his abusive behavior. An MMA fighter who taught self-defense classes to women, Cedric killed Jenna in a "violent, unnatural, unusual" way, according to the medical examiner, and also strangled her friend Michael. Their bodies were found in a shallow grave a few days later.
