On December 27, 2020, Alan Lynn Bondelid was killed in his driveway. Otis Buchanan and Dalana Smedley followed Alan home from a bar. Once he parked his car, Otis demanded his wallet, but before Alan could react, Otis shot the 70-year-old in the chest. Then he punched and kicked Alan as he lay in the driveway. According to Alan's wife of 48 years, "I asked the police, I said, 'I don't understand, if the guy asked for his wallet, and he was standing there with the gun, why wouldn't Alan give him his wallet?' And the cop said, 'He didn't have time.'" Alan's wallet contained eight dollars.
