On December 7, 2015, Logan Dean Tipton was attacked in his sleep. Ronald Exantus drove overnight from a neighboring state and chose Logan's home at random. He walked in and found a large knife, went upstairs to Logan's room and started stabbing the 6-year-old in the head and neck. Logan's cries woke his sister, who tried to protect him until their father came and fought with Ronald, then held him for the police. But it was too late to save Logan, who soon passed away. According to his father, "he just kind of glanced up at me, closed his eyes, and that was it. He died in my arms."
