On December 4, 2012, Gregory Patrick Glynn was fatally beaten. He had been exiting a convenience store in the early morning when 17-year-old Dequarius Brown pushed Gregory to the ground and kicked him in the head several times before stealing his wallet and phone. Gregory, who was a grandfather, spent the final months of his life in an assisted-living facility, where he was unable to speak until he passed away. According to his nephew, before the attack "he was a big family man," but then "he wasn't the same afterward."
