On November 29, 2020, Tristan Lavonne Stavee was killed in a robbery. Tristan's grandfather had asked him to help check out a car he found for sale online. But when they arrived at the church parking lot where the meeting was arranged, they were robbed and shot. Tristan's grandfather was found in his vehicle, having survived a bullet that entered the back of his head and exited through his cheek. Tristan's body was found lying on the ground. Mark Nelson, Tamika Ford, and Christopher Reaves have been arrested for the attack.
Tristan's fiancée, with whom he had two daughters, said she knew something was wrong when he stopped returning her texts. "I started to worry 'cause that wasn't like Tristan. We had been together for 10 years. He was 13, and I was 14... They took the love of my life from me. We were engaged. We were just starting our lives together... And those people took him from me just for $4,000."
