On November 21, 2017, Zachary James Zumwalt was in his car outside of a restaurant. Richard Gaines came for a late-night meal and got into an aggressive argument with the staff. When they began to call the police on him, Richard returned to his vehicle. But as he drove away, he fired a handgun several times in the direction of the restaurant, and one of the shots struck and killed Zachary.
