On November 20, 2018, Rebecca Pletnewski was killed by a neighbor. Rebecca had been rejecting Dominique Swopes' romantic advances for months, growing more and more concerned as he left her notes, approached her outside, and contacted her through social media. Eventually Dominique broke into Rebecca's home and stabbed her to death. Then he stole some of her jewelry and set the house on fire. Her 8-year-old daughter, who was sleeping upstairs at the time, also died of smoke inhalation.
