On November 8, 2016, Albana Nika was killed for a life insurance payout. Albana's fiancé David Martin had been inquiring about the details of her policy, and he conspired with Robert Avant and Antonia Monroe to shoot Albana outside of a bar. After her death, David tried to convice Albana's family that they had married, that he was named in her will, and that her religious beliefs would forbid an autopsy.
