On October 26, 2001, Gregory Glenn Biggs was walking along the side of a road when he was struck by a car. Chante Mallard was driving while impaired by alcohol, marijuana, and ecstasy when she hit Gregory so hard that his head and shoulders went through her windshield. She drove home with Gregory stuck in the glass, apologized, and left him in the garage to bleed to death for a day or two. Then Chante's friend helped her dump the body in a park. She became a suspect months later when she laughingly told another acquaintance, "I hit this white man."
