On October 25, 2008, Edward Scott McMichael was attacked by some youths. Known as the "Tuba Man," Edward was a popular street musician, and so he was sitting outside in the early morning when Ja'Mari Jones, Billy Chambers, and three other teenagers approached. They knocked Edward down, stole his money and a ring off one of his fingers, and continued beating and kicking the 56-year-old as he curled up on the ground. Edward died of brain injuries about a week later. Ja'Mari and Billy served a combined total of about two years in juvenile detention for the attack.
