On October 24, 2018, Roger Thomson Marmet was killed in his car. An aspiring social worker, Roger was driving home from his duties as a long-term volunteer with an organization that helps recovering addicts find employment. While his vehicle was stopped, several shots were fired nearby and one of them struck him. The shooter was identified as Barry Marable, a 22-year-old like Roger. According to the police chief, Barry "was shooting at someone else and ended up striking Roger Marmet and killing him. He was apparently just driving home, I believe, from a day of work."
