On October 23, 2014, Douglas Barry London and Deborah Lynn London were killed for their involvement in a criminal case. Months earlier, Jamell Cureton, Nana Adoma, and David Fudge had gone to Doug and Debbie's business to rob it, but Doug had chased them away. With a trial approaching in which Doug was expected to testify against him, Jamell asked Malcolm Hartley to eliminate the witness. Briana Johnson drove Malcolm to Doug and Debbie's home. When Debbie answered the door, Malcolm shot her in the head and then went inside and shot Doug several times.
