On October 6, 2009, Evelyn Norell was found by one of her grandchildren, partly undressed and lying in a pool of blood. A maintenance worker named Elton Walters had entered the 93-year-old retired nurse's apartment, sexually assaulted her, and slashed her throat.
One resident said Elton "would always say 'good morning,' or 'how you doing,' and he would talk to you, and he just seemed like the nicest guy. Apparently, those are the ones you have to watch out for."
