On October 4, 1999, Michael James Greenwood was killed on the road. Kenneth Williams had been serving a life sentence for murdering a college cheerleader when he escaped from prison, killed a man who was working in his vegetable garden, stole his truck, and fled to a neighboring state. The next day, with the police in pursuit, Kenneth crashed the truck into Mike's work vehicle at over 100 miles per hour.

Upon his arrest, Kenneth remarked "Boy, that was some good driving." Mike left behind a 5-year-old daughter and his young wife who was pregnant with identical twin boys.
